The future

I sat up late last night, watching the results roll in. I couldn't help but be nervous. Our country, in my mind, had a very clear choice for our next President, but I wasn't taking anything for granted.

Maryland, our adopted state, had big issues on the table, including ones giving some of our friends the right to marry, and some an easier path to gain an education.

I couldn't help but wonder, if the polls didn't go our way, what would happen in the next four years that would make it more difficult for our friends, and in the long run our kids.

Thankfully, we have another four years! I am as emotional as I was four years ago and I am looking forward to being able to take my kids to the Mall on Inauguration Day so they can be a part of history.
