Baby's Best Friend

Keeping up with the swimming/kicking theme Baby Mazursky has going on these days, Dalasi decided to get into the mix this weekend at the annual Greenbelt Pooch Plunge. Our outdoor pool closes at the end summer and before they clean it there is a fund-raiser where the neighborhood pooches get to swim and go nuts! This year there were about 60 dogs.

Although Dalasi is an avid swimmer (the muddier the water the better) Sunday was the first day that he actually jumped into the pool from the edge instead of just wadding in. We were so proud! He swam and ran for about 2 hours non-stop and had a blast.

We are very curious to see how Dalasi reacts to Baby Mazursky, but both of us are convinced he is going to love him/her instantly. We are also convinced he knows that I am pregnant b/c he is gentler around me and only rough-houses with Errol. He also doesn't pull me down to the ground when lunging for rabbits anymore...he saves that delight for Errol only!

mmmmmm bacon....

Guess what? I got the ok to eat bacon! No seriously, Sara said it was ok to buy it at the store, and guess what it's not fake bacon either - I'm talking full fledge swine-side none of that turkey stuff. I know what you're thinking "this guy is off his rocker" but I'm not. We haven't had REAL bacon in our house since oh, about 2002 and that was actually because I mistakingly took someone else's cart at the grocery store and didn't realize it until I was already in the check-out line.

The other nice thing about Sara giving the OK for bacon is that we're finally out of the "I'm hungry but all food makes me want to puke stage." For those of you keeping score at home, but have never been through a pregnancy that stage lasts about 4 very very very long months.

Yippee - here's to meat!

Labor Day

Labor day weekend marked 23 weeks for Baby Mazursky. It also marked the end of summer and a slew of fun events with friends. A Nats game on Friday, house-warming on Saturday, birthing class and introduction of the "ring of fire" on Sunday (could have done without that) and the long awaited Jimmy Buffett show on Monday. We had a visit to the midwife on Tuesday, and ironically for the first time in my life, I am unable to gain weight at the rate expected. The baby is growing perfectly though so all is well but I still have "orders" to eat as much as I possibly can.
