It's a Girl!!!!

Elsa Sophia Mazursky was eager to become part of this world and arrived 4 days early and in record time. She was born December 24th at 2:10pm and weighed in at 6 lbs 5 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. She is cute as a button, has strawberry blond hair and blue eyes similiar to mom and long fingers and legs like her daddy.

We are all doing great. More pictures coming soon.

One week and counting

Baby Mazursky is due in one week and by all accounts we are ready for the arrival. As you can see in the picture, Sara's torso is running out of room and we are fearfull she may explode at any given minute. The good news is that Sara is "making progress" according to the midwife, for those of you novices out there it means she is begining to dialate and apparently everything is moving into position or something like that. Granted, she also said it can be 2 hours or 2 weeks so really "progress" is a relative term. But it did make Sara happy to hear that she won't be pregnant until spring which is how she feels right now.

We are both pretty sure Errol can now find his way to the hospital, only after about 20 visits over the last 9 months, but thankfully our good friends Rose and Robbie have graciously agreed to answer the phone in the middle of the night to give directions in the event Errol gets lost on the way.

And with only days to spare we finally found a peditrician that we like. Oh, and the hospital bag is partially packed..

Stay tuned, next posting will hopefully be an introduction! Happy holidays to everyone!

37 Weeks and a Place to Sleep

We have finally hit the downhill stretch of the pregnancy road...Baby Mazursky is full term and can come at any point right now. Although Errol isn't quite ready for the arrival, I am! We have the nursery nearly complete, our Fuzzi Buns diapers have arrived, we have clothes and all the other "necesseties", now all we need it is the baby! Oh...and I should probably pack my bag one of these days too...

Coming to Terms with Coming to Term

So Sara and I went to the midwife on Friday for our every other week check-up only to realize that on Sunday, December 7th we'll be 37 weeks which is considered full term. It's an odd thing when they tell you the baby could come anytime now...What do you mean anytime - I thought we weren't due until the end of December?

Sara's confident she can "go the distance" which is lucky for both baby and I. For one thing, the baby seems perfectly comfy where it is and for another I'm still just mentally prepared for a Dec. 28th or later delivery.

We spent the weekend recovering from Tryptohpan and getting the nursery ready. All in all it looks pretty good. Diapers are being mailed to us as we speak and then, well, we'll just sit around waiting for the little one to make is debut.

It sort of like waiting for the Oscars, you know someone is going to win but you don't know who. We know it's going to be a baby but we don't know what sex it is. We're both pretty sure it won't look like a gold statue, though it might weigh as much.

And the winner is....stay tuned!

About a month to go...

We have just over a month until we get to meet Baby Mazursky, and we can hardly wait. Sara's belly grows on a daily basis and we are almost ready for the little ones arrival. Sara's friends threw her a baby shower a few weekends ago and between them and the soon to be grandparents they have made sure Baby Mazursky will want for nothing - and will be very stylish to boot!

Obama Baby

Just to set the record straight...prior to popular demand I will not be asking for medication to stop labor to ensure Baby Mazursky is not born prior to January 20th at noon. Unfortunately Baby Mazursky will have to come into the world and have George Bush in their baby book as current president. But, let there be no mistaking, President-elect Obama will also be written in, including a full page essay on how amazing and tranformational this election was!

And we can guarantee that the whole family will be on the Mall to get front row seats on the 20th. We've already written to all of our senators and representatives trying to get on lists for tickets to inaugural balls and the parade. We might just show up...who is going to turn away a 2 week old baby for god's sake!

Superman and the Flying Nun

Errol and I ressurected our tried and true costumes this year to hand out candy to the neighborhood kiddies. Black certainly must be slimming because none of the parents commented that I was actually the pregnant Flying Nun...either that or they were too horrified for words! We have just over 7 weeks until we get to meet Baby Mazursky and some days that feels like a lifetime, others we are both in shock at how fast the weeks seem to go by.

10 weeks to go

This weekend we hit 30 weeks and Errol's belly continues to grow...as does Sara's. This weekend we also celebrated Rose's birthday and carved pumpkins with Mason and Cadyn. When all the votes were cast, Mason clearly had the best pumpkin!

Twins!

No, we aren't having twins....but Dalasi has a twin from his littermate that he got to play with this weekend! We attended a fundraiser for the rescue we adopted him from. This is him (on right) and his sister Zuzu (on left). We were talking with her owner on nature v. nurture (a debate Errol and I frequently have in relation to Snapper) and it seems in the case of the canines nature won out in most respects. They have very similar temperments, habits and playstyles. It was so cute to watch.

We also hit 29 weeks this weekend and the belly continues to grow at an astonishing rate...I guess only astonishing when you have to lug it around though! We have started to clear out out office to convert it into the nursery and get some of the things done around the house that we have been meaning to do..Errol loves it! Thankfully, we have still made time for lots of hikes in the woods and have been enable to enjoy the amazing fall weather we have been having in Maryland.

3 Months To Go!!

We only have 3 more months to wait until we get to meet Baby Mazursky. The baby is growing at a perfect rate, heartbeat is a healthy 140 beats and the kicks are getting harder and closer to my ribs each and every day!

On another happy note, Errol and I celebrate our 3 year anniversary next week! We plan on having a crazy celebration of purchasing a new bed and going out to dinner. Wild and crazy, I know...
