Halloween 2012

This year our costumes for the Greenbelt Childrens Parade was a Lorax theme. Elsa wanted to be the Lorax, so Milo was a Brown barbaloot and Errol and I were Truffula Trees. We also went to Boo at the Zoo but Elsa wanted to be a princess for that.  She had a great time this year and really loved handing out candy to people at our house as well!

Errol lucked out and ended up co-oping on the Annual Nursery School trip to the pumpkin patch. The kids LOVE this, the teachers hide pumpkins in hay on the peninsula of our lake, and mayhem ensues. Errol said it was a blast!

Long weekend at the beach

We took a quick long weekend trip to the Chesapeake Bay and Dale/Liz's cabin. It was Milo's first trip to the beach and despite it being chilly, he LOVED it! We could barely keep him away from the water and he and Elsa spent hours upon hours playing in the sand and running up and down the beach.

It was so nice to get away, spend some quiet time as a family and enjoy a fireplace! Dale and LIz joined us for one night and we had smores - Elsa's first experience with them!

Cheesedays in Wisconsin

We went to Wisconsin for Cheesedays! We got to see Nana, Grandma and Papa, and my cousin Alli, Kurt and their two beyond adorable girls, Signe and Freya. The kids had a great time playing at Nana's, eating cream puffs, watching a parade and coloring on the windows!

Milo is One!

Happy First Birthday Milo! You are such a little love bug - quick to give hugs and kisses to all of us. You are silly and sneaky and absolutely adore your sister. You are starting to take steps, you love to try and climb, you chase your sister around the house, and you love putting things into boxes. You have finally started to sleep better, waking only about once a night. You will eat anything in sight which is such a delight.

You can say mama, dada, elsa, up, and hi. Although you don't have many words yet, you are very expressive and get your point across easily.

Both daddy and I say that this was the fastest and slowest year of our life - we can hardly remember when you weren't part of our family - and we love you more than you could ever imagine!

Milo's First Birthday Party

We held Milo's birthday party over the weekend, and in typical Milo fashion, there was drama. As if coming six weeks early wasn't enough, his first birthday party had a tornado right smack dab in the middle of it. The tornado hit about 15 miles from our home, but we had to frantically move everyone and all their art projects inside right in the middle of the festivities!

Fun was had by all, but especially by Milo. His first taste of sugar was not as epic as expected, it took him a bit to warm up to the textures of the frosting...but after about 10 minutes of exploring he smashed his cake with delight!

Back to School Feast

We started a new family tradition this year, with our back to school feast. The night before Elsa started her 5 day a week mornings in the Ocean Room, she got to pick out dinner (pizza and watermelon) and we made her a special crown.

We talked about important nursery school things like sharing toys with friends, listening to her teachers Ms. Uma and Ms. Saba, and most importantly making all of her classmates feel happy by doing nice things and playing with old friends and new.

Labor Day 2012

Labor Day in Greenbelt is pretty much every kids dream. Fair food, rides, music, people and tacky carnival games. Most importantly, it is a focal point for all families for 3 straight days, and its only a block from our house. The first day Elsa got a wrist band that entitled her to unlimited rides...she took full advantage and went on about 16 rides in a mere 5 hours. It was epic. She fell asleep at 6:30.

This was Milo's first festival and he was happy just ridding around in his stroller waving at all the people. He also got to watch the parade which he was surprisingly enamored with.

Elsa, Errol, and Milo walked the last block of the parade with Elsa's nursery school. She is a bit shy and didn't love it, but apparently Milo was waving and clapping at everyone!
